How to open a Rauva account? Let's get started! 👏

If you want to open a business account, you don't need to look any further.

We know that opening a business account is often a time-consuming and bureaucratic adventure. That's why we've created a simplified and efficient process to make everything easier for you.

With Rauva, you won't have to worry about dealing with endless paperwork or visiting a branch. Instead, just provide us with some important information, and we'll take care of the rest.

Who can open a Rauva account

For now, these are the profiles that can open a Rauva account:

  • Freelancers and independent workers (must be registered with the Portuguese Tax Authority)
  • Sole Proprietorship (ENI — Empresário em Nome Individual)
  • Single-Member Company, Unipessoal LDA (Sociedade Unipessoal por Quotas)
  • Limited Liability Company (Sociedade por Quotas)

What information will we need?

Documents

Identification document, passport, or government-issued residence card.

Tell us about your business

You'll need to share details such as your business's NIPC (NIF), location, name, city, and country; and the name of all beneficial owners, along with their date of birth, city and country.

Tell us about yourself

As the account holder, we need your personal data to verify your identity.

Verifying your identity

What documents are required to verify my identity?

The identity verification process is carried out by Swan, a Rauva partner. You will need to present an identification document.

For companies

You will need to provide us with information about all beneficial owners:

  • Date of birth
  • Place of birth
  • Country of birth

Additional documents may also be required to complete the identity verification, such as:

  • Permanent Certificate of Commercial Registration (Certidão Permanente da Empresa)
  • Proof of RCBE (Registo Central de Beneficiário Efetivo)
  • POA (Power of Attorney)
  • ID document of the legal representative of the company.

For freelancers and sole entrepreneurs

You'll need to prove that you are registered as a self-employed worker in Portugal. You can download the document here.

How long does it take to approve my application?

This process can take up to 3 business days, but it's usually done within a few hours.

Before starting your application, it's a good idea to confirm if your business is eligible for a Rauva account. If it is, it may take only a few hours to approve your account, although additional documents may be requested.

Is it possible to join Rauva while under the age of 18?

Yes. The only requirement is that the account be registered by your legal representative, just as with registering a company for individuals under the age of 18.

I have a Rauva account! What should I do first?

Here are some things you can start with:

a) Add funds to the account

You can start by adding funds to your Rauva account. To do this, you only need to make a SEPA transfer to your account.

To find your Rauva IBAN, simply access the Menu and click on Account Details.

b) Request a Rauva card

The first card you request is free.

  1. Access the Menu;
  2. Under Payments and cards, click on Cards.
  3. Click on Create;
  4. Choose the physical card option;
  5. Click on Create and continue;
  6. Provide the delivery address;
  7. Review the card delivery information;
  8. Complete the security validation;
  9. And it's done!

Card delivery may take up to 5 business days. More information about cards here.

c) Add more users to the account

If you have a business account, you can add more users to the account.

(This feature is not yet available for freelancer accounts).

  1. Access the Menu.
  2. Under Preferences, click on Users.
  3. Then, on the next page, click on Send invitation.
  4. Fill in the fields First name, Last name, Date of birth, Email, and Mobile number.

The fields for First name and Last name must be filled in exactly as they appear on the identification document of the person you want to add to the account.

  1. Finally, click on Send invitation.
